Sony Caves, Makes SD Cards Now

How many proprietary memory cards has Sony whipped out in the last 10 years? The answer is too many that I lost count. Sony, having lost its place as the number one electronics manufacturer to Samsung needs a new strategy because its electronics do not have synergy. Always on with a new revision of Memory Stick on its mind, Sony is finally start to wake up.

Their latest wake-up call comes in the form of SD cards. Finally, joining the rest of industry in embracing a standard memory card that will work in just about every device. It’s better late than never, but they’ve lost valuable leads from other storage makers.

Capacities will be the usual 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32GB. Prices start at $14.99 for the 2GB.
